I worked at Fallon Worldwide for 19 years, 12 of those as a creative director. I was lucky to be a key player in the core creative group that helped make Fallon a global brand recognized for creative excellence. Fallon won “Agency Of The Year,” from Ad Age magazine, 3 times during my tenure.
It was an agency like no other and I’m immensely grateful for the experience.
I was also psyched and honored to have been a co-writer of Fallon’s hey-day history.
The book is simply titled, “The Work.”
I guess my most well-known work includes “Stay Smart,” for Holiday Inn Express. It still remains the longest-running and most successful campaign in the hotel industry. Film and print work for BMW. And “Be more PBS,” are other campaigns of note. (A PBS spot, “Fish,” won the 2003 Emmy for Most Outstanding Television Commercial.) I've collected lots of other awards, but I'm most proud of having some of my work in MOMA's permanent collection.
Fresh out of Fallon, 2010, I joined a tech start-up called Bite Tech, While there I served as writer, dental technician, and sports agent to a dozen amateur athletes across the globe.
In 2011, I started freelancing. I had a great deal of help from friends in the business, along with a whole lot of luck. I helped rebrand MSNBC with their “Lean Forward” campaign and also produced work for Ford Explorer, PBS, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Purina, Nike, Saucony, Vasque Boots, Red Wing, 3M, the Minnesota Lynx and Nice Ride Minnesota–Minnesota’s bike-sharing program. I've been a board member since its inception.
2017: Left the volatile freelance world and joined Periscope, an ad agency in Minneapolis.
In an older life, I was once a professional triathlete and part-time member of the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team, for whom I occasionally still serve as a wax technician.
Two children, Max, 24, and Piper, 21, both of whom have better imaginations than me.
